Bernard Owen Darden, 58, died Monday, Sept. 2, 2002 at Courtland Health Care. 
   A native of Southampton County, he was the son of the late Rufus and Dorothy Piland Darden. 
   Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Lizzie Kitchen Darden; two daughters, Jennifer Lynn Darden and Dorothy Rose Darden; three brothers, Luther, Raymond and Marvin Darden. He was predeceased by two brothers, Linwood and Rufus Darden. 
   A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Cribb officiating. Burial will follow in Southampton Memorial Park . The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
