Mr. Cunningham was a native of Southampton County and was the son of the late Willie and Naomie Whitley Cunningham. He was an Army veteran of World War II, and was retired from the maintenance department of Union Camp Corp. after 39 years of service. He was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. Mr. Cunningham was a member of the Portsmouth Commandry No. 5, Khedive Temple of Norfolk, Suffolk Shrine Club, Franklin Shrine Club, and Franklin Masonic Lodge (NU)151. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Gardner Cunningham; one sister, Margaret C. Flythe of Chesapeake; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, by the Rev. Richard L. Peerey. The burial will be at Beaver Dam Baptist Church Cemetery.
