Nelsie B . Councill , 80, of the 100 block of Pioneer Road, died Feb.
27, 2004, at Southampton Memorial Hospital. Born July 21, 1923, she was
a native of Melbourne, England, and the widow of Shirley Godwin Councill
. She was a member of Holland Christian Church and was retired from the
Tidewater Agriculture Extension Center. Nelsie remained active in her
retirement and among her numerous activities she en- joyed volunteering
many hours of her time at the East Pavilion in Franklin.
She is survived by a daughter, Brenda C. Bunch and husband, Joe of
Suffolk; two grandchildren, Andy C. Bunch and Traci B . Davis and
husband, Fred; three great-grandchildren; and a sister.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin,
with the Rev. Lawrence O. Walser officiating. Burial will follow in
Holland Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home
one hour prior to service and requests that, in lieu of flowers,
donations be made to the Holland Christian Church or to the charity of
ones choice.
