A lifelong resident of Southampton County, he was a retired farmer and owner of a home cured ham business. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Sycamore Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Darden Cotton; a daughter, Patsy C. Falls; a son, Russell Darden Cotton, all of Franklin; four grandchildren, Douglas Falls of Raleigh, Tricia Falls of Richmond, Will and Ashley Cotton of Franklin; and a brother, R. Howard Cotton of Franklin. A funeral service will be held at Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Sycamore Baptist Church by Dr. Reginald Warren. Burial will be at Poplar Spring Cemetery.
