Russell Barrett Cotton, 86, of 30051 Smiths Ferry Road, died Dec. 25, 1993, in Sentara Leigh Memorial Hospital. 

A lifelong resident of Southampton County, he was a retired farmer and owner of a home cured ham business. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Sycamore Baptist Church. 

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Darden Cotton; a daughter, Patsy C. Falls; a son, Russell Darden Cotton, all of Franklin; four grandchildren, Douglas Falls of Raleigh, Tricia Falls of Richmond, Will and Ashley Cotton of Franklin; and a brother, R. Howard Cotton of Franklin. 

A funeral service will be held at Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Sycamore Baptist Church by Dr. Reginald Warren. Burial will be at Poplar Spring Cemetery. Wright Funeral Home has charge of arrangements. 

The family requests memorials be made to Sycamore Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 32018 Sycamore Church Road, Franklin, Va. 23851.
