Obituary of Robert Howard Cotton ROBERT HOWARD COTTON Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - March 14, 2004 Robert Howard Cotton, 82, well known Franklin businessman and widower of Margaret Whitfield Cotton, died March 12, 2004. A lifelong resident of Franklin, he was a son of the late Willie O. and Rebah Cobb Cotton. He was an Army veteran who served in the Pacific Theatre during World War II and was a retired area manager for the Woodland Division of Union Camp Corporation. Mr. Cotton was a member of Franklin Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Suzanne Cotton Councill of Manakin-Sabot, Va.; two sons, Robert Howard Cotton Jr. of Coinjock, N.C. and Sam Cotton of Nags Head, N.C.; five grandchildren, Andrea Cotton Stone, Allison Cotton, George Councill Jr., Peter Councill and Samuel E. Cotton; and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother and a sister, Russell Cotton and Antionette Cotton McClenny. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Poplar Spring Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. A. Richard Childress and the Rev. Dr. Ira D. Hudgins officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Wright Funeral Home.
