Mrs. Cotton was born in Richmond. She had retired from Franklin High School and Southampton Academy, Courtland as a math teacher after 40 years. She was a member of the Franklin Baptist Church and was a charter member of the Franklin Woman's Club. She was a graduate of The College of William & Mary. Survivors include her husband, Dellie C. Cotton Jr.; two sons, Wayne L. Cotton of Rocky Mount, N.C. and T. Tate Cotton of Henderson, N.C.; and two grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Franklin Baptist Church by the Revs. Ira D. Hudgins and Sharon James. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery.
