Obituary of JOHNNY FORD COOK JR. The Virginian-Pilot (Norfolk, VA) - Saturday, April 22, 1995 Johnny Ford Cook Jr., 63, of 34457 Lees Mill Road, died Friday, April 21, 1995, at Sentara Leigh Hospital. Mr. Cook was a native of Opelika, Ala., and was the son of the late Johnny F. and Inez Jarrell Cook. He was a pilot for the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a captain in the Army Reserve. He was a graduate of Franklin High School and a 1959 graduate of VPI. Mr. Cook was a consultant for Ford Motor Co. at the Kentucky Truck Division Plant. He was a member of High Street United Methodist Church, Franklin American Legion, Virginia Tech Alumni Association and was a longtime member of Cypress Cove Country Club. Survivors include his wife, Mary Paula Condrey Cook; three daughters, Katherine C. Loy and her husband, Greg, of Kitty Hawk, N.C., Lisanne C. Bryant and her husband, Don, and Jennifer Cook, all of Franklin. Mr. Cook was predeceased by his son, John Paul Cook. Other survivors include two sisters, Sue C. Bryant of Chesapeake and Nancy C. Martin of Hobe Sound, Fla.; one brother, Alex Cook of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and five grandchildren, Hugh, Katie and Paul Bryant, and Whit and Patrick Loy. A graveside funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Southampton Memorial Park by the Rev. David Erickson and the Rev. Donald L. Harris. He was a member of Holland Baptist Chruch and was an Army veteran. He was a charter member of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans, Suffolk Chapter, Tom Smith Camp. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Lowe Copeland; one daughter, Sharon C. Beale of Suffolk; one son, Thomas N. Copeland of Suffolk; two sisters, Virginia C. Kues of Smithfield and Edith C. Fischer of Newport News; two brothers, Benjamin R. Copeland Jr. and Frederick A. Copeland, both of Suffolk; and two grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Annie Bosselman and Benjamin Riddick Copeland Sr. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home, Suffolk, by the Rev. Ed Sunday-Winters and the Rev. Charles W. Thompson. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery.
