Obituary of Leroy Leonard "Jack" Coley LEROY LEONARD "JACK" COLEY Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Thursday, March 9, 2006 FRANKLIN - Leroy Leonard "Jack" Coley, 67, died March 7, 2006, at the Village at Woods Edge. A native of Statesville, N.C., he was the son of Mary Foster Coley and the late Frederick Calvin Coley. Jack was retired from the U.S. Navy as a senior chief petty officer after 21 years of service. He was a State Farm Insurance agent for 11 years and worked in the post office unit at the Virginia Department of Corrections for six years. He was a member and layman of Hunterdale United Church of Christ and a member of the Hunterdale Ruritan Club where he served a term as president. Surviving in addition to his mother is his devoted former wife and best friend, Nancy Crutchlow Coley; two sons, Ian L. Dey and wife Niki of England and F. Christopher Coley and wife Katherine of Richmond; one stepson, Marvin Z. Best and wife Faith of Courtland; two stepdaughters, Lorraine B. Musselman and husband Brian of Atlanta, Ga., and Jane B. Bryant and husband Andy of Franklin; 10 grandchildren, Brooks B. Hamic, Hudson D. Bryant, Jamie L. Bryant, Laura A. Musselman, J. Forrest Best, Sarah Grace Best, Zachary Z. Best, A. Caroline Coley, James Dey and Daniel Dey. Jack was predeceased by a stepdaughter, Julie Best Benton and a grandson, Graham B. Hamic. A funeral will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. at Hunterdale United Church of Christ with the Rev. Dietmar Plajer officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Southampton Memorial Park . The family will receive friends at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday and other times at the home of Nancy Coley, 117 Woodland Drive, Franklin. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the American Heart Association, c/o June Duck, 27351 Delaware Road, Franklin, VA 23851, or a favorite charity.
