"Coker" Coker, 78, of the 6700 block of Whitewood St., died Feb. 23, 2002, at his residence following a long illness. He was born in Cotton Valley, La., and was retired from civil service with 28 years of service. He was also a retired carpenter. He was a member of Bayside Lodge No. 218 AF&AM, and was a U.S. Navy veteran. Survivors include his wife, Edith Brown Coker, and a daughter, Diane Lee Coker of Suffolk. He was predeceased by a daughter, Debra Coker Williams. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Oakland Christian Church Cemetery, Route 10, Godwin Boulevard, Chuckatuck, by the Rev. Paul Eure. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Snellings Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel.
