Obituary of Marion Jordan Cockey MARION JORDAN COCKEY The Virginian-Pilot, - Saturday, December 13, 2003 Marion Jordan Cockey, 89, died Dec. 12, 2003, at Obici Hospital. Born Feb. 12, 1914, in Sunbury, Gates County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Thomas Alexander and Dora Norfleet Cross Jordan and widow of John Sothoron Cockey. Marion was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, the J. Lewis Rawls Sunday school class, Westover Garden Club, Jamestown Society and Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a graduate of Blackstone College and attended the University of Tampa. She moved to Washington, D.C. to attend art school, where she met her loving husband of 60 years. Together they traveled to Hawaii, Europe and many Redskin and University of Maryland sporting events. Marion is survived by her loving children, John Sothoron Cockey Jr. of Virginia Beach and Marion Cockey of Baltimore, Md.; grandchildren, Elizabeth Anne Cockey, Lydia Cockey Kingsbury and husband Troy and Suzanne Cockey ONeil and husband Abby; great-grandson, Maximillian Sothoron ONeil; and loving sister and brother-in-law, Mary Cross Jordan and James G. Brockenbrough. A graveside service will be conducted Monday at 1 p.m. at Cedar Hill Cemetery by the Rev. Robert J. Parks Jr. The family will receive friends in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory Monday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory to Main Street United Methodist Church, 202 N.
