Obituary of ROBERT GORDON COBB Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Sunday, December 29, 1996 R. Gordon Cobb, 76, died Saturday, Dec. 28, 1996, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, Norfolk. He was the son of the late Linwood M. and Caroline Reese Cobb. Mr. Cobb was associated with his uncle, Dr. Emmet F. Reese in the Reese Motor Company, Courtland , the second oldest Ford dealership in Virginia. He later became owner and president of the dealership in 1959, then known as Cobb Ford Corporation. Mr. Cobb was a member of the Courtland United Methodist Church, a long-time member of the Manry Hunt Club, and a member of Cypress Cove Country Club. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in England and France. Mr. Cobb is survived by his wife, Katherine Ricks Vaughan Cobb; a brother, Linwood M. Cobb Jr. of Lynchburg and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Winston Cobb Weaver and Jean Cobb Fowler. A graveside funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday in Riverside Cemetery , Courtland by the Rev. Robert J. Parks. Jr. The family will receive friends at the Shands Drive residence.
