 Thomas Edward Chappell, 42, died March 17, 2003, at his home. Born March 5, 1961, in Suffolk, he was the son of Charles Edward Chappell and the late Shirley Spivey Chappell. Mr. Chappell had been employed as a welder. 
Besides his father, he is survived by his son, Christopher Thomas Foster; sister, Deborah Chappell Kempton, her husband, Neill of Smithfield; brother, Craig Allen Chappell, his wife, Judy of Suffolk; paternal grandmother, Bernice W. Chappell of Sunbury, N.C.; aunts, uncles, a niece and a nephew. 
A funeral will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home by the Rev. Robert J. Parks with burial in Holly Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and other times at 2236 Lake Cohoon Road. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 604 Constance Woods Drive, Suffolk, VA 23434, or to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 2680, North Canton, OH 44720.
