Robert D. Carter Sr., 82, of 218 Holladay St., died Oct. 20, 1995.  
A native of Holmes County, Fla., he was the son of the late Lewis T. and Lula Mae Blankenship Carter. Mr. Carter was the retired maintenance foreman for Hugh L. Holland Real Estate and a member of Bethlehem Christian Church.  
Survivors include his wife, Maybelle Ellis Carter; two daughters, Shirley Carter Eley, Mabel Carter Kiesow, both of Suffolk; two sons, Kenneth A. Carter of Pensacola, Fla., Robert Daniel Carter Jr., of Franklin; one sister, Cleta Bradshaw of Suffolk; eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.  
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Monday in the R.W. Baker and Co. Funeral Home by Dr. Merle Correll and the Rev. Cecil Smith with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Nansemond Suffolk Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 1515, Suffolk, Va. 23439.
