Bessie "Beck" Boykin Carr, 87, died Jan. 22, 2003, at her residence. She was a lifelong resident of Isle of Wight County and the widow of George L. "Big Boy" Carr. She was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. 

Survivors include a sister, Mary Frances Duck of Franklin and several special nieces and nephews. 

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, with the Rev. Dr. Richard L. Peerey officiating. Burial will follow in Beaver Dam Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and suggests that memorials be made to Beaver Dam Baptist Church or to the Carrsville Volunteer Fire Department.
