Obituary of JUNIUS WINSTON CAMP The Virginian-Pilot (Norfolk, VA) - January 10, 1995 J. Winston Camp, 86, of Ivor, died Jan. 8, 1995. Mr. Camp, a native of Ivor, was retired from the Smithfield Packing Co. He was an active member of the Ivor Baptist Church, where he served as superintendent of the Sunday School for five years, teacher of the Men's Class for 20 years, teacher of the Senior Adult Class and chairman of the Board of Deacons for many years. He was selected as Senior Honorary Deacon in 1984. Mr. Camp served as chairman of the Ivor Medical Center for eight years and was instrumental in getting the first doctor to come to Ivor after a long absence of medical care for the town. He served as a member of the Walter Cecil Rawls Library Board of Trustees for eight years and as chairman for two years. He held the positions of vice mayor, clerk and treasurer of the Town of Ivor and was a member of the Ivor Town Council, where he served as chairman of the Finance Committee. He was also a board member and treasurer of the Ivor Rescue Squad and the B & B Hunt Club. He was past master of Ivor Masonic Lodge (NU)291, past district deputy of Masonic District (NU)31 and past worthy patron of the Order of the Eastern Star. He attended the College of William and Mary. Mr. Camp is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Rawls Camp; a son, Colonel (Ret.) J.W. Camp Jr. of Grapevine, Texas; a daughter, Nancy Camp Temple of Richmond, Va.; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Temple Doggett of Richmond, Karen Camp of Atlanta, Ga., Sharon Camp Watkins of Bixby, Okla., Ann Camp Rouse of Kitty Hawk, N.C., and James Wilkinson Holland Camp of Norfolk; a step-grandchild, Melanie Leonard of Grapevine, Texas; and five great-grandchildren, Christopher, Zachary, Megan and Stephanie Doggett and Brady Rawls Rouse. Visitation by family and friends will be at Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, today from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Visitors are also welcome at any time at the family home. Funeral services will be held at Ivor Baptist Church on Wednesday at 2 p.m. Burial with Masonic rites will be in Ivor Cemetery .
