Obituary of THOMAS CHARLEY CALE The Virginian-Pilot (Norfolk, VA) - Thursday, October 28, 1993 Thomas C. Cale died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 1993, in Southampton Memorial Hospital. He was 74 years old. Born in Harrellsville, N.C., Thomas (Tom) was a retired farmer and rural mail carrier, having worked out of the Gates, N.C., office for 25 years. He attained the rank of Staff Sergeant in the Air Force during World War II while assigned to a B-17 Bomber Group in England. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a charter member of both the Gates Hunt Club and the Somerton Hunt Club, still serving as President of the Somerton club. He was predeceased by his wife, Vivian, and a son, Bobby. He is survived by five children, Thomas A. Cale of Harrellsville, N.C., Charles S. Cale, Thomas C. Cale, Jr., and Ginny C. Duck, of Suffolk, and Judith C. Wallace, of Colonial Heights, Va.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters, Ida C. Mizelle, of Suffolk, and Lena C. Lowe, of Harrellsville. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Billy P. Presley in Reynoldson Baptist Church on Friday, Oct.29, at 3 p.m. Burial will be in Southampton Memorial Park . Wright Funeral Home has charge of the service. The family will be at the home of the son at 8353 Longstreet Lane, Suffolk.
