Obituary of Rita Daughtrey Byrum RITA DAUGHTREY BYRUM Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - October 8, 2003 Rita Daughtrey Byrum, 61, retired office manager for Franklin Oil Co., died Oct. 7, 2003 at Southampton Memorial Hospital. Born in Franklin, she was a daughter of the late Clayton Carlson and Blannie Barden Daughtrey and the widow of William Earl Byrum Jr. She was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church where she was a longtime Sunday school teacher. Mrs. Byrum was the former president of the Carrsville Elementary School PTA and Windsor High School PTA and a former secretary for the Carrsville Athletic Association. She was an avid and talented pianist. Survivors include two sons, William Clayton Byrum of Carrsville and George Randall Byrum and wife Anni of Chesterfield; a grandchild, Hannah Kay Byrum; mother-in-law, Alma P. Byrum of Suffolk; and stepfather, Ray Porter of Franklin. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Beaver Dam Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Richard L. Peerey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, and other times at Rita's home on Hunt Club Road.
