Obituary of James Lee Byrum Jr. JAMES LEE BYRUM JR Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Sunday, March 28, 2004 James Lee "Jim" Byrum Jr., 68, of the 600 block of Rock Drive, went to be with the Lord Jesus March 25, 2004, in Chesapeake General Hospital. A native of Gates County, N.C., he was the son of the late James L. Byrum Sr. and the late Pattie Perry Byrum. He was owner and founder of Dominion Yachts for 34 years and was a member of First Baptist Church, Norfolk. He is survived by a daughter, Susan Y. Byrum; a son, the Rev. Steven W. Byrum and wife, Susan J., both of Chesapeake; two sisters, Barbara B. Haverty and husband, Elliott and Betty B. King and husband, Louis, all of Suffolk; a brother, Joseph T. Byrum and wife, Jane of Prince George County, Va.; and three grandchildren, Bethany, Nathan and Heather. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert P. Byrum. A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Deep Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Richard Baker and the Rev. Larry Ryals. Burial will be in Liberty Springs Christian Church Cemetery, Whaleyville Boulevard, Suffolk. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. chapel, today from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Union Mission.
