She was the oldest member of Magnolia United Methodist Church, where she was a member and former teacher its Wesley Bible class. Mrs. Byrum was an honorary life member of the United Methodist Women. Survived by daughter, Odelle B. Oliver of Suffolk; four sons, Joseph E. Byrum of Roanoke, William E. Byrum, George W. Byrum and John A. Byrum of Suffolk; three sisters, Mary E. Byrum of Suffolk, Lillian O. Grubbbs of Newport News and Johnnie M. Martin of Virginia Beach; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Visitation at 2121 Wilroy Road.
