Obituary of Alvin Thomas Byrum ALVIN THOMAS BYRUM Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - August 21, 2000 Alvin T. Byrum, 79, died Saturday, Aug. 19, 2000 in Southampton Memorial Hospital. Mr. Byrum was born Dec. 22, 1920 in Edenton, N.C., to the late Eli Thomas and Ida Pierce Byrum. He was a self-employed retired farmer who lived and worked on his Walnut Hill Farm. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who had a never-ending love for his family. Mr. Byrum is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Juanita Lane Byrum; a daughter, JoAnn B. Underwood of Franklin; a son, Donald A. Byrum of Carrsville; two brothers, Edwin L. Byrum of Carrsville and W. Ray Byrum of Edenton, N.C.; four grandchildren, William Joseph Harrison, Donald Jeffrey Byrum, Micki Lin Byrum and Christopher Allen Stephenson; two great-grandchildren, Mallorie Danielle Byrum and Kari Elizabeth Harrison. He was predeceased by eight sisters and a brother. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Beaver Dam Baptist Church by the Dr. Rev. Richard Peerey. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive family and friends at Holland-Rideout Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today.
