Obituary of JAMES D . BYERS JR. Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Thursday, December 26, 1996 James D . Byers Jr., 64, of the Holland area, died Dec. 24, 1996, in Obici Hospital. Mr. Byers was a native of Omaha, Neb., and was the son of the late James D . Sr. and Gwendolyn Schroeder Byers . He was the widower of Ann Johnson Byers . Mr. Byers was an Air Force veteran and was a retired electronic technician for the Norfolk Naval Air Station. He was one of the founding members of the VFW Post 4411, Franklin. Survivors include four daughters, Debbie Reeves and Billie Jo Hundley of Suffolk, Rena Diddle, Cindy Byers of Florida; four sons, James D . Byers III, Craig Byers of Windsor, Va., Robert Byers of Suffolk, Ricky Tidwell of Maine; two sisters, Deborah Poirier of Martinsville, Va., DeLores Dapson of Albuquerque, N.M.; and 15 grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Holland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, and suggests memorials be made to the Obici Oncology Fund, c/o Nancy Trestrail, 1900 N.
