William Robert ``Bobby'' Butler Jr., 69, died Dec. 2, 1999. He was born June 1, 1930, in Suffolk, the son of the late William Robert and Mattie Avent Butler. A professional driver, he was a former National Guardsman, a former member of the Hunterdale Volunteer Fire Department and the Southampton Grays. He was a member of High Street United Methodist Church. 

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Betty S. Butler; two sons, Dennis W. Butler of Courtland and Paul L. Butler of Newsoms; and two grandchildren, Amanda Lee Butler and Paul Wayne Butler. 

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at High Street United Methodist Church by the Rev. Edward C. Johnson. Burial will be in Southampton Memorial Park . The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in the Fellowship Hall of High Street UMC and other times at the home of Mary Carter, 31065 Cardinal Ave. in Hunterdale. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Ruth Petty, 116 Southampton Road, Franklin VA 23851. Wright Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
