Gladys Estelle Spivey Butler, 83, of 5049 Holy Neck Rd., and the widow of Lynn Butler, died September 30, 1994, in a North Carolina hospital. She was a native of Gates County, N.C., and daughter of the late Jacob David Spivey and Bessie Weeks Spivey.
Mrs. Butler was a member of Holy Neck Christian Church, the Box Elder Homemakers Club, and the Holy Neck Senior Citizens.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Cora and Lee Liggett of Suffolk; three sisters, Doris Spivey and Ann Anderson, both of Suffolk, and Lessie Fuquay of Raleigh, N.C.; one grandson and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers, Peter Eugene Spivey and Chuck Spivey.
Graveside services will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. in Holy Neck Christian Church Cemetery by the Rev. Cecil Smith. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to the church memorial fund.
