Blanche Drake Burgess, 82, a resident of Foxhound Lane, died July 22, 1998, in DePaul Hospital. 

A native of Southampton County, her parents were the late George and Annie Francis Drake. 

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Page Pope Burgess; three daughters, Sandra Crawford, Linda Bright and husband, Marvin, and Joan Fulton and husband, Richard, all of Norfolk; a brother, Ralph Drake of Memphis, Tenn.; two grandchildren, April McLauchlin and Sonya Bright; and a great-grandson, J.P. McLauchlin. 

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Capron Cemetery , Capron, Va. Memorial donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation. The family will be at the residence. Purviance Funeral Home, Boykins, Va., is handling arrangements.
