Mr. Bryant was a native of Southampton County and was the son of the late Jake L. and Mamie Hill Bryant. Mr. Bryant was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Hunterdale United Church of Christ. He was a former member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and the Loyal Order of Moose. Survivors include one son, Hereford "Buck" Bryant Jr. of Courtland; two sisters, Christine B. Calloway of Portsmouth and Douglas B. Ellis of Franklin; two granddaughters, Dale B. Whitford of Ernul, N.C., and Dana B. Brown of Rome, Ga.; one great-granddaughter, Olivia Whitford; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Poplar Spring Cemetery with the Rev. James X. Camak officiating. The family will receive friends at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Ellis, 203 Southampton Road, and suggest memorials be made to the Hunterdale United Church of Christ Building Fund.
