Obituary of Gillette Thomas Bryant Sr. GILLETTE THOMAS BRYANT SR. Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Sunday, December 7, 2003 Gillette Thomas Bryant Sr., 92, died Dec. 6, 2003 at Southampton Memorial Hospital. A lifelong resident of Southampton County and a retired farmer, he was a son of the late Walter and Eva Gillette Bryant and the widower of Wilma Nurney Bryant. He was the oldest member of Courtland United Methodist Church and the oldest member of Manry Hunt Club. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Betty Vaughan of Courtland ; a sister, Frances B. Savage of Daytona Beach, Fla.; six grandchildren, Ricky and Keith Vaughan, Toni Joyner, Kira Fox, Jenny Drake and G.T. Bryant III; and 12 great-grandchildren. Mr. Bryant was predeceased by a son, Gillette Thomas Bryant Jr. and a granddaughter, Anita Foster. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Riverside Cemetery with the Rev. Kay Barstow Gentry officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, and suggests memorials be made to Courtland United Methodist Church or to the Courtland Volunteer Rescue Squad.
