Obituary of RACHEL CROCKER BROWN The Virginian-Pilot (Norfolk, VA) - August 28, 1993 Rachel Crocker Brown, 75, of 1405 Lake Meade Drive, died Friday, Aug. 27, in Sentara Leigh Hospital. A native of Suffolk, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin David Crocker and Iola Johnson Crocker. Mrs. Brown formerly taught at the Country Day School for Girls and retired from teaching at Norfolk Academy in 1976. She was CEO and president of Suffolk Lumber Co. from 1976 to 1987. Mrs. Brown was a former member of the American Association of University Women and was an active volunteer and past president of the Virginia Beach Boardwalk Art Show. Survivors include her husband, C. Bernard Brown; two daughters, Rachel Crocker ''Dink'' Brown of Bloomfield, Conn., and Drew Chapman Brown of Baltimore; and one grandson, Benjamin David Hildebrand, also of Baltimore. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Cedar Hill Cemetery. R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
