John Eldridge Britt Jr., 76, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, in Norfolk. 
Born in Boykins and a lifelong Southampton County resident, he was the son of the late John E. and McTrudy Bryant Britt. He was a Methodist and a charter member of the Franklin Moose Lodge. 
Mr. Britt is survived by his aunt, Mrs. Linwood B. Harris of Courtland; and several cousins. 
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins, by the Rev. Joseph A. Talley. Purviance Funeral Home, Boykins, is handling arrangements.
