Dorothy Holland Brinkley , beloved wife of Parke Culver Brinkley , died April 29, 2002, at her home in South Hill.

She was born in Windsor, Va., in 1914, the daughter of Martha Pierce Holland and Meredith Richard Holland. She was a graduate of Norfolk General Hospital School of Nursing.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years; a sister, Irene Holland Wilson of Windsor; a daughter, Kaye Brinkley Spalding of Richmond; a son, Richard Fairlie Brinkley of Gulfport, Fla.; five grandchildren, Mary Parke Spalding Holland, Maria Blair Spalding Hadlow, Henry Cannon Spalding III, John Parke Brinkley and Sydnor Pierce Brinkley , all of Richmond; and four great-grandchildren.

Burial will be graveside at Liberty Spring Christian Church, Suffolk, Thursday at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Liberty Spring Memorial Fund, 4213 Whaleyville Blvd., Suffolk, VA 23434. Farrar Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
