Obituary of Dr. Maurice Miller Bray DR. MAURICE MILLER BRAY Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - November 23, 2002 SUFFOLK - Dr. Maurice Miller Bray, 84, a longtime Suffolk physician, died Nov. 21, 2002, in Obici Memorial Hospital. Born Nov. 17, 1918, in Charlottesville, he was the son of the late Dr. William Edward and Verdie Miller Bray and was predeceased by his sons, Maurice Miller Bray Jr. and William Bruce Bray. Dr. Bray was a member of West End Baptist Church and was an Army veteran of World War II. Dr. Bray was a graduate of the University of Virginia Medical School. When he came to Suffolk, he joined the staff of Lakeview Hospital in the practice of internal medicine. Later in October 1951, as one of the original doctors, he joined the Louise Obici Memorial Hospital staff and retired in December of 1987. He served as vice president of the Obici Medical Staff from 1959 to 1960, as president from 1960 to 1961 and on numerous committees. He was a leader and advocate in getting programs established for children with mental disabilities. Survivors include his wife, Henrietta "Hennie" Davis Bray; daughter, Marilyn Bray of Midlothian; sons, Frank Bray of Midlothian, Robert Bray and wife Pam of Claremont, Calif.; and grandchildren, Ashley and Matthew Bray.
