Obituary of EVELYN ANN BURCHETT BRANTLEY The Virginian-Pilot (Norfolk, VA) - April 25, 1994 Evelyn Burchett Brantley, 80, of Brewer Ave., a native of Franklin, died April 23, 1994. She was the widow of Joseph Edward Brantley, and daughter of the late William Harrison Burchett and Allie Howell Burchett. Mrs. Brantley, a retired librarian with Morgan Memorial Library, was a member of Suffolk Christian Church. Other memberships include Suffolk Tennis Association, Suffolk Golf Association, Suffolk Art League, Suffolk-Nansemond Historical Society, and Obici Hospital's Women's Auxiliary. She was a 1935 graduate of Sullins College, Bristol, Va. Survivors include her daughter, Barbara B. Edwards of Zuni; two sons, Joseph E. Brantley Jr. of Suffolk and William Burchett Brantley of Seattle, Wash.; one sister, Mary B. Williams of Suffolk; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday in Cedar Hill Cemetery by the Rev. Bruce Havens. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home.
