Obituary of Joel Clinton Bradshaw Jr. JOEL CLINTON BRADSHAW JR. Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - May 6, 1999 Joel Clinton Bradshaw Jr., 69, slipped quietly from this earth into the arms of God on May 5, 1999, in Norfolk. He was born May 10, 1929, and was the son of the late Joel Clinton and Mamie Duck Bradshaw of Carrsville. He graduated from Carrsville High School in 1949. He was a lifelong farmer and a charter member of the Carrsville Volunteer Fire Department. Joel retired from the Isle of Wight County Board of Supervisors after 18 years of service. He served the county through dedicated service on the Social Services Board, Planning Commission, Industrial Development Authority and was co-chair of the County Fair. He was also a member of the Southampton Memorial Hospital Board of Directors for 24 years. He was a member of Collosse Baptist Church and the Carrsville Ruritans. Joel, a Silver Beaver recipient, was a founder of Carrsville Boy Scout Troop and Cub Pack 37. He designated a portion of his farm, which became Camp See-gar Boy Scout Camp. He touched thousands of lives through his dedicated service and organization of various troops. He also served on the Colonial Council Executive Board. He was a loving husband to his wife of 50 years, Hazel Butler; a devoted father and grandfather to his five sons, Joel III, his wife, Unha, and their children, Lisa, Linda Timothy and Jacob of Elmendorf AFB, Alaska, Donnie, his wife, Kathy, and their children, Stephanie and Jessica of Rincon, Ga., Jimmy, his wife, Pam, and their children, Tim, Tracy and Gavin of Eden, N.C., Phillip, his wife, Stella, and their children, Rebecca, Malissa and Kateland of Carrsville, Andy, his wife, Ronda, and their children, Rachel and Amanda of Keflavik, Iceland; and a beloved brother to Mildred Harcum and the late Annie Owens. He will be missed by all. A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Holland-Rideout Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at Poplar Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The family will receive guests in the home of Hazel Bradshaw.
