Obituary of HERBERT ADOLPHUS BRADSHAW JR. Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - September 14, 1996 Herbert 'Red' Adolphus Bradshaw Jr., 72, of 607-B Virginia Ave., died Sept. 13, 1996, in Obici Hospital. A native of Suffolk, Mr. Bradshaw was the son of the late Herbert Adolphus Bradshaw Sr. Mr. Bradshaw retired from Virginia Power after 40 years of service as a construction superintendent. He was a member of Oxford United Methodist, Suffolk Masonic Lodge 30, past president of Gates Ruritan Club, Gates Couples Club, Sunday school teacher at Savages United Methodist on the fourth Sunday and an honorary member of the Drum Hill Hunt Club. Survivors include his wife, Cleta 'Jackie' Carter Bradshaw; his mother, Dorothy Whitley Bradshaw of Suffolk; two daughters, Audrey P. Smith and Elaine P. Salmon and son-in-law, James 'Jim' T. Salmon of Suffolk; three sisters, Florence B. Gardner and Catherine B. Taylor of Suffolk and Doris B. Twine of Chowan, N.C.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A funeral will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. in Oxford United Methodist by the Rev. George H. Close Jr., the Rev. Bill Altman and Mr. Lynn Felton with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery with Masonic Rites. Memorial donations may be made to Oncology Unit of Obici Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
