Born in Vance County, N.C., he was a son of the late William Herbert and Ida Stainback Boyd. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and was the retired manager of the Maxway Store. He was a member of the Franklin/Southampton Chamber of Commerce and was a Baptist. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Marion Brugh Boyd; three daughters, Teresa Boyd of Franklin, Penny Hart of Courtland and Vicki Felts and her husband, Travis, of Sedley; two sons, David Boyd of Fayetteville, N.C., and Bobby Boyd of Murfreesboro, N.C.; a sister, Louise Blackwell of Henderson, N.C.; and five grandchildren, Phillip, Steven ``JoJo'', and Alex Boyd and Kevin and Stephanie Hart. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Wright Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. David Johnson. Burial will be in Poplar Spring . The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
