Hilda Virginia Griffin Boyce, 73, of South Quay Road, died May 4, 1998, in Southampton Memorial Hospital. 

Mrs. Boyce, a native of Chowan County, N.C., was a daughter of the late John and Elmina Dail Griffin and the widow of Ernest Edward Boyce. She was a member of the Pentecostal-Holiness Church. 

She is survived by three daughters, Barbara Darden of Suffolk, Virginia Watkins of Norfolk and Geraldine Williams of Chesapeake; two sons, Rick Boyce of Suffolk and Patrick Boyce of Como, N.C.; a brother, Tommy Griffin of Williamston, N.C.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was predeceased by a brother, Clifton Griffin. 

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, with burial in Southampton Memorial Park . The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today and suggests that memorial donations may be made to the Nansemond-Suffolk Rescue Squad, 428 Market St., Suffolk, Va. 23434.
