Obituary of JENNIE EMMA BESS The Virginian-Pilot (Norfolk, VA) - Tuesday, August 13, 1996 Jennie Emma Bess, 94, died Aug. 10, 1996, at the home of her daughter in Davenport, Fla. Mrs. Bess was a native of Philadelphia, and was the widow of Ralph C. Bess. She was a member of the Franklin Presbyterian Church and the Women of the Moose, Franklin Chapter 1670. She is survived by three daughters, Pearl B. Reynolds of Davenport, Bernice B. Avrigian of Mexico Beach, Fla., Judi B. Steadham of Jonesboro, Ga.; two sons, Raymond D. Bess of Courtland, Julian R. "Duke" Bess of Suffolk; 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. The graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Southampton Memorial Park by the Rev. James Lambeth. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today in Wright Funeral Home.
