Virginia Goodwin Ellis Benton, 68, of 200 W. Constance Road, died Jan. 14, 1997, in Hillhaven Nursing Center. 
Born in Suffolk, she was the widow of James E. Benton and daughter of the late Lee Roy and Mary Sue Rountry Goodwin. She was a homemaker and member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, participating in the Ruth Bible Class. 
Survivors include daughter, Sandra Gray Babb; sons, David Yates Ellis and Robert Lee Ellis Jr., both of Suffolk; granddaughter, Julie B. Ellis of Suffolk; grandsons, Jonathan L. Ellis, Chad E. Gray, Matt Gray, all of Suffolk; and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Harry Wilson Ellis. 
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Hill Funeral Home by the Rev. Douglas W. Gibson. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery. Friends may join family in the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today and other times in the home of Sandra G. Babb, 610 Babbtown Road, Suffolk.
