Mr. Beale was a lifelong resident of Southampton County and was the son of the late Leland E. and Ruby Beaton Beale. Mr. Beale, a retired farmer, was an Army veteran of WWII and a member of Black Creek Baptist Church. He was a charter member of the Burdette- Black Creek Ruritan Club and a member of the Black Creek Hunt Club. Mr. Beale was a former member of the Southampton County Planning Commission, a former representative of the Jerusalem District on the Southampton County Board of Supervisors (1969-1983), and a former member of the Board of Directors of Dominion Bank. Survivors include his wife, Katherine Branch Beale; one daughter, Ruby Katherine Beale Gray; one son, Thomas Exum Beale II; one brother, Leland E. Beale; and one granddaughter, Christina Marie Beale, all of Franklin. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, 1994, in the Black Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Wayne Underwood and the Rev. Larry Cribb. The burial will be in the church cemetery.
