Obituary of JOHN MILTON BEALE The Virginian-Pilot (Norfolk, VA) - April 17, 1993 John Milton ``Jack'' Beale, age 73, retired owner of Blackwater Pallet Inc. and a former farmer of Southampton and Isle of Wight counties, died April 15, 1993, in Southampton Memorial Hospital. He was the son of the late Ernest L. and Carrie Vaughan Beale. Mr. Beale was a lifelong resident of Franklin. He was a member of the Franklin Congregational Christian Church, having served as Sunday School superintendent, secretary, chairman of the official board, and as a deacon. He was a member and past president of the Franklin Lions Club, a past president of the Meherrin Valley Coin Club, a charter member of the Franklin Jaycees, and had served as a director of the Friends of the Library. Mr. Beale was a veteran of World War II, having served with the 503rd Field Artillery in Italy. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Councill Beale; a daughter, Carolyn Beale Cheshire of Raleigh; a son, John Milton Beale Jr. of Carrsville; a brother, James Vaughan Beale of Franklin; a son-in-law, Joseph B. Cheshire V of Raleigh; three grandchildren, Juliette Faircloth Beale, Joseph B. Cheshire VI and John Milton Beale Cheshire; and seven nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at the grave in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin, Saturday, April 17, at 2 p.m. The family will be at the residence, 113 Oakwood Drive, Franklin.
