Vernon Carrol Barrett, 59, of Burdette Road, died March 29, 1999, in his home. 

He was born Aug. 1, 1939, in Franklin, Va., a son of the late Richard Washington Barrett Sr. and Ruby Denson Barrett. 

Survivors include three brothers, Enous L. Barrett of West Virginia, Douglas M. Barrett of Carrsville and Glenn F. Barrett of Branchville; a sister, Iris Juanita Kiernan of Franklin; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Richard W. Barrett Jr. 

A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Poplar Spring Cemetery with the Rev. William Hawkins officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, and other times at the residence of Nita Kiernan, 310 Bogart St., Franklin.
