Obituary of Mrs. Shelton Vick Barrett MARY SHELTON VICK BARRETT Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - May 6, 1998 Mrs. Shelton Vick Barrett, 76, a resident of Statesville Road, died Tuesday, May 5, 1998, at Southampton Memorial Hospital, Franklin. A native of Branchville, she was a daughter of the late Richard Donaldson and Ethel Harris Vick. A lifelong resident of Southampton County, she was a faithful member of Barnes United Methodist Church and the Ladies Bible Class of the church. She assisted her husband, the late Hugh Alexander Barrett Jr., in the operation of Barrett's General Store, Statesville, for many years. She had been a resident of The Village at Woods Edge, Franklin, since May 1996. She is survived by a son, Ernest Lyle Barrett and his wife, Brenda, of Little Rock, Ark.; a sister, Mattie Laura Vick Grizzard of Branchville; a grandson, Todd Barrett; and granddaughter, Robin Fort. She was sister of the late Kelley Vick Prickett and Richard D. Vick. A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Purviance Funeral Home, Boykins, by the Rev. Derek Koolman and the Rev. Kenneth Williams. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery , Newsoms . The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and at The Village at Woods Edge, Franklin, from 4 to 5 p.m. Thursday.
