Josephine Davis Barrett, 71, of the 2300 block of Scott St. and formerly of Wakefield, died Dec. 3, 1991, in a hospital. 

Mrs. Barrett was born in Southampton County. She was the widow of A. Hartwell Barrett Sr. She was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Courtland , and Sebrell Women's Club. 

Survivors include a daughter, Betsey B. Kello of Courtland ; a son, A. Hartwell Barrett Jr. of Franklin; two sisters, Gladys D. Williams of Sebrell and Marjorie D. Whitehead of Franklin; and three grandchildren. 

The graveside service will be conducted at 4 p.m. today in Riverside Cemetery , Courtland , by the Rev. James W. Browder and the Rev. Gary L. Powell. Wright Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to Franklin Rescue Squad.
