Obituary of Kenneth Alvin "Buddy" Barnes KENNETH ALVIN BARNES Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - September 21, 2000 Kenneth Alvin ''Buddy'' Barnes, 64, died Sept. 19, 2000. Mr. Barnes, a lifelong resident of Southampton County, was the retired owner and operator of C.T. Barnes & Son, an electrical and plumbing contracting company. He was a member of Boykins Baptist Church and the Boykins Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squads. He was an Air Force veteran. Survivors include his mother, Inez Pope Barnes of Courtland; a sister, Jacqueline B. Hickman and her husband, Frank, of Wilmington, N.C.; a nephew, Wilton B. Hickman and his wife, Dorothy, of Boykins; two nieces, Teresa Howlett and her husband, Duane, and Joye Hickman, all of Wilmington, N.C.; great-nephew, Douglas Craig Hickman and his family of Woodshole, Mass.; his longtime companion and friend, Rachel Liverman, and her daughters, Shirley, Tina and Angel, all of Conway, N.C.; and other nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Beechwood Cemetery by the Rev. Thomas Caulkins. The family will receive friends at Wright Funeral Home, Boykins, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today and other times at the residence of Wilton and Dorothy Hickman, 32086 Wilson St., Boykins. The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Boykins Fire and Rescue Squads.
