Obituary of Charles Spencer Barnes CHARLES SPENCER BARNES Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Friday, August 13, 2004 Charles Spencer Barnes, 61, died Aug. 12, 2004, at his home with his family at his side after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was a son of the late Henry Amos and Ruth Mitchell Barnes and was active in the lumber business. Charles was an avid sportsman and a member of Shiloh Hunt Club. He was a member of Boykins Baptist Church. Survivors include his daughter, Ann Burton Heikens and husband Timmy of Courtland ; his son, Troy McLemore Barnes and wife Wendy of Suffolk; a sister, Martha B. Felts and husband Freddy of Boykins; and three grandchildren, Dillon and Camryn Heikens and Breanna Barnes. A graveside funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Riverside Cemetery , Courtland , with the Rev. Kay Barstow Gentry and the Rev. Robert Parks officiating.
