Zellie Umphlette Barden, 78, of Black Creek Road, died June 3, 1992, in a nursing home. 

Mrs. Barden was born in Southampton County. She was a member of Hunterdale United Church of Christ and was the widow of Luther C. Barden Sr. 

Survivors include a son, Carlton Barden Jr. of Franklin; two sisters, Bernice U. Story of Franklin and Cora U. McClenny of Hopewell; a brother, Jack Umphlette of Norfolk; and two grandchildren. 

The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Southampton Memorial Park by the Rev. James X. Camak. Friends may join the family at 21499 Black Creek Road. Wright Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
