Clarence Bruce Baker, 87, died Sept. 3, 2000. 
Mr. Baker was a native of Nansemond County. He was retired from Gwaltney Meat Packing Company of Smithfield. He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of VFW Post 2582, a member of Liberty Spring Christian Church. His wife, Miriam Oliver Dail Baker preceded him in death. 
He is survived by his stepchildren, Jean Dail Cecil of Suffolk, Henry Lee Dail of Richmond and R. Linwood Dail Sr. and his wife Lana Sue of Suffolk; four grandchildren, Russell Dail Jr., Lee Dail, Angela Cecil Andrews and Marissa Erpelding; five great-grandchildren; a great-niece, Suzanne Lilly Brown; and a great-nephew, Marion Len Lilly Jr. 
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Liberty Spring Christian Church, conducted by the Rev. Tommy Reynolds. Burial will be in the church's cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home.
