Obituary of Frances Porter Babb FRANCES PORTER BABB Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Wednesday, February 15, 2006 COURTLAND - Frances Porter Babb, widow of Harwood Francis Babb Sr., died Feb. 14, 2006, at Southampton Memorial Hospital. A native of Southampton County, she was a daughter of the late Fenton Porter and Susie Miles Porter Davis. She was a member of Courtland United Methodist Church. Survivors include two sons, H.F. "Woody" Babb Jr. and James P. "Jimmy" Babb, both of Courtland ; two grandchildren, Chris C. Babb of Virginia Beach and Mark A. Babb of Zuni; two great-grandchildren, Aaron and Kala Babb; one sister, Shirley P. Drake of Franklin; and three brothers, Leslie Porter and Irving Porter, both of Franklin and Raymond C. Davis Sr. of Courtland . Mrs. Babb was predeceased by a sister, Doris Porter Kitchen and three brothers, Benjamin Porter, Bobby Davis and David Thomas Porter. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Riverside Cemetery with the Rev. Kay Barstow Gentry officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6:30 p.m. today at Wright Funeral Home and suggest memorials be made to American Cancer Society, c/o June Cooley, 112 Sunset Drive, Franklin, VA 23851 or Courtland United Methodist Church, 22416 Main St., Courtland , VA 23837.
