Ivor  Martha Elizabeth Atkinson, 82, a lifelong resident of Southampton County, died Nov. 18. (2002)
   Born Oct. 27, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Paul Carr and Lizzie c. carr. Mrs. Atkinson was a member of Ivor Senior Citizens Club and Ivor Baptist church. She was the wife of the late Clarence Conly Atkinson.
   She is survived by her daughters,  Patricia  Cisco of Sussex County, and L. Jean Whisenant of Ivor; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.  In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Clevon and Willie Carr; and one sister, Gracie Owney.
   Funeral services were held Nov. 20 at Purviance Funeral Home Chapel, Wakefield, with the Rev. Steve Gupton officiating.  Interment followed in Tucker Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery, Zuni. The family received friends at the funeral home.
    Memorial donations may be made to Waverly Health Care Center, Residents fund, 456 E. Main St., Waverly, Va. 23890.
