Obituary of Harold Blythe Askew HAROLD BLYTHE ASKEW (04 NOV 1930 - 11 MAR 2005) FRANKLIN - Harold Blythe Askew, 74, died March 11, 2005, at Southampton Memorial Hospital. A native of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., he was a son of the late Jerry D. and Margaret Dixon Askew. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, he was retired from Hercules as a boiler operator after 36 years of service. Harold also operated the Askew Tree Service for many years and loved working on cars. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Louise Caroon Askew; his daughter, Marcia A. Campbell and husband Wesley of Franklin; two grandchildren, Melissa Carol Campbell and Wesley Harold Campbell; a great-granddaughter, Meghan Hinton; a sister, Dorothea A. Washburn and husband Keith of West Covina, Calif.; and a brother, Jerry D. Askew Jr. and wife Edith of Ontario, Canada. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Poplar Spring Cemetery with David E. Scott officiating.
