William Jessie 'Junior' Asbell Jr., 68, of the 400 block of Williams Road, retired owner and operator of Asbell Construction Co. 
Mr. Asbell was born in Suffolk. He had retired in 1979 after 15 years. He was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, Eastover-Wilroy Ruritan Club and Disabled American Veterans 41, Portsmouth. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II. 
Survivors include his wife, Elise Lowe Asbell; three daughters, Constance A. Insley and Jenny A. Holleman, both of Suffolk, and Sandra A. Ward of Zebulon, N.C.; a son, Fred N. Asbell, and a brother, Ralph M. Asbell, both of Suffolk; and eight grandchildren. 
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home by the Rev. Carter Dey. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery. Friends may join the family at the residence. 
Memorial donations may be made to Eastover-Wilroy Ruritan Club, c/o Garland Moody, Treasurer, 1005 Myrtle St., Suffolk, Va. 23434.
